OZ WORLD (music, tennis, giving back)

    GREETINGS!

Thanks for checking in with me.  After much encouragement from friends, I began playing out this year (music), and the summer culminated for me with a packed Hotel Cafe show that was a lot of fun.  I have learned a ton about song writing and instrumentation and can’t wait to share my discoveries with you.

In the meantime I produced and recorded some music for DHLovelife.com (a fun and environmentally conscious site by the actress Daryl Hannah), built a music studio in the mountains of Malibu, CA, and ran music nights in both Santa Monica, and in the heart of the Venice arts scene on Abbot Kinney Blvd, (see New York Times article), sitting in on guitar and harmonica with countless national touring acts.  Currently, I’m playing private parties, festivals, and Los Angeles venues.  I’m on track to record my first album by the end of October, hopefully in time to work in a track for the upcoming Farrelly Brothers film “Hall Pass” starring Owen Wilson.  First things first, I’m off to Indonesia for a surf trip, vacation, and song writing mission.   I’ll have a guitar in my hand, or slung over my shoulder at all times, and looking to hit the ground running when I return to Los Angeles.

I’m looking forward to mixing my love of tennis with my love of music and perform with a series of bands, including the most successful doubles team of all time, The Bryan Brothers on Oct 22 at Wokano in Santa Monica as a part of a concert and tennis event that benefits Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Fund, a group that provides medical services for children with cancer.  This is my 5th year on the foundation’s committee, and is definitely the most exciting.

We’ve changed our name from The William Morris Endeavor Tennis Classic to The Bryan Brothers Grand Slam Jam and Benefit Concert.  Our tennis event is packed with celebrities, local tennis aficionados, and tennis greats.  So far The Bryan Brothers, Mardy Fish, and Sam Querry are in the pro am, with rumors of some tennis legends on board as well.  I’m producing the concert with music industry leaders and playing in the actual tennis event.

The witty and fun, hurricane of hilarity, MelissaRivers is hosting a reception at her house for the sponsors in mid October and the tennis event is at Malibu Racquet Club on Oct. 23, Saturday.  We’re raffling a private jet.  All of our proceeds go to benefit the children and were gunning to raise a lot of cash.  Click here to be a sponsor!

–Personally, I never thought in a million years I’d take my shirt off in front of 1500 girls, dance around like a Bohemian in half a tuxedo, while a Chippendale looks on, but it was good for an extra 500 bucks and some kid got to go to camp for the bird chested effort, so I’m sleeping well at night.   Oz
