Last night MOSCOT and MOSCOT Music hosted a phenomenal Fashion’s Night Out with great tunes, delicious drinks, and a fun loving crowd at the MOSCOT Orchard Street Gallery and Music Space.

First up was the amazing, Madi Diaz, who hit the stage performing songs from EP, Far From Things That We Know. Her infectious, warm personality and magical voice made for the perfect opening act.

Next up, the main event: the incredibly talented, Brett Dennen who sang a mix of songs from his new album, Loverboy, and old favorites. The packed house sang and danced to every song and were even treated to an impromptu jam session with fellow musicians, Tom Freund and Josh Osswald. Brett was really in his element performing in our intimate, casual music space — and it showed as he treated his fans to encore after encore!

It was truly a treat to have a performer of this caliber play in our Music Space! And a huge debt of gratitude to the oh so dapper, Dan Sabo, mixologist of Brooklyn’s Five Leaves Restaurant, and his bar mate, Carlos, who created special cocktails just for our event made with Spiced Rum generously provided by Brinley Gold.

We couldn’t have asked for a better event — great drinks, amazing performers and a packed house of MOSCOT fans (some super MOSCOT fans even flew in from across the pond – i.e. the UK)! Stay tuned for information on our next MOSCOT Music event and keep checking moscot.com/moscot-music.html

JOHN CHISUM AND A LITTLE BASEBALL

I’m up late tonight feeling groovy and at the same time, unsatisfied.  Friends are on the move.  Santa Ana winds are blowin’ in, and I’m building up the skills daily.  How can you look at that picture of Pete Rose and not feel inspired?  Baseball’s on my mind I guess because my new amigo is living one of his dreams out and  singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” at the Oakland A’s game tomorrow.  I’m all about dreams coming true.   I’m also all about John Wayne movies at the moment.  I just finished Chisim.  The last lines of the film went something like this:

Garrett

“There’s an old saying Miss Sally.  ‘No law left to dodge, and no God left to bait.’  Ain’t that right Mr. Chisum?”

Chisum

“Wrong.  Cuz no matter where people go sooner or later there’s the law, and sooner or later they find that..God’s already been there.”

Admit to that, Mr. Rose?  Somehow I think there was homage to the Native Americans woven into the fabric of Chisum’s last line.  And Miss Sally, sometimes dreams and their attainment originally stem from dissatisfaction.  See ya later, Josh

Free The Slaves Benefit Concert

Click the above link to see me perform at The Freedom Rocks Benefit Concert. It was an after party featuring music from Jason Mraz, Rocky Dawuni, The MakePeace Brothers and Luc and The Lovingtons.  It was an exhilarating evening that celebrated the impassioned people who fight against human trafficking worldwide.  Earlier at The Freedom Awards, world leader Desmond Tutu, entertainers Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, and Forest Whitaker spoke along with other heroes in the fight against human slavery.   Human trafficking exists in alarming numbers worldwide and I encourage you to read about it on the Free The Slaves website.

Here are some images and a link to Lisa Kristine’s Photography from her photography exhibit documenting actual slavery.  The images are gripping and demand the attention of all who view the exhibit.  I was privileged to assist her with the exhibit at The Freedom Awards that evening. Kudos Lisa wherever you are and much love and support to all the tireless workers at Free The Slaves!

But the circus around us says

You know, for the kids, the career, a bit of happiness

Whatever it is it doesn’t matter at all.
